Liver and Kidney function tests
Liver and Kidney function tests help us know the levels of certain elements that are key in diagnosing kidney and liver normal functioning. The results of a these tests point to a diagnosis of urinary tract infection (UTI), urinary tract injusry, kidney disease, diabetes or a liver disease. If test results are abnormal, other tests will be needed before a definite diagnosis can be made.
We test for several components like Bilirubin, Urobilinogen, Leucocytes, Protiens, Ketones, Nitrates, Haematuria, Glucose and Specific Graivty
* Bilirubin and Urobilinogen levels give us an indication about the functioning of Liver. The presence of these as a result of these tests is an early indicator of liver diseases like hepatitiies, biliray tract disease, gall stones and can occur before other symptoms such as jaundice.
* Leucocytes, Protiens, Nitrates, Haematuria and Specific gravity levels give us more info about the urinary tract system including kidney disease. Based on the levels of each of these element there is a possibility of urinary tract infections, bladder conditions and kidney stones.
* Ketones, Glucose levels assessed to check glucose metabolism and diabetes. Positive glucose result is generally when insulin in our body is not able to process the glucose making it an early detector of diabetes. Ketones levels indicate the source of body fuel (fat instead of glucose) which can be due to a special diet. Checking this is important to rule out and other underlining conditions.
